Hard Luck Canyon Aluminum Structural Staircase - Woodlands County
The The Hard Luck Canyon Aluminum Structural Staircase Project in Whitecourt county, Alberta is an ongoing infrastructure installation highlighting SMF expertise in aluminum structural installation and industrial stair systems. As the subcontractor, SMF supplied and is installing aluminum in-ground staircase supports, along with the corresponding aluminum grating stair treads, all completed in strict accordance with engineer-issued drawings, alignment tolerances, and safety standards. Work to date includes site assessment, precision stake installation with deep embedment for long-term structural stability in variable ground conditions, and continuous verification of level, spacing, and dimensional accuracy, while existing in-ground stairs are preserved and protected without modification. Installation activities are ongoing and are being carried out by a qualified supervisory, welding, and labour crew under active site coordination and active safety controls, reinforcing SMF’s reputation as a reliable provider of aluminum staircase installation, grating steps, and custom metal installation services across Alberta.
Steel Decking Connection – The Pointe at Riverview
SMF completed the full fabrication and installation of a structural steel decking system connecting the daycare facility to the apartment building at The Pointe at Riverview residential development for SAGA Development.
This custom steel structure was fabricated from scratch and installed on schedule, providing a safe, durable, and code-compliant connection between both buildings. The project highlights SMF’s expertise in structural steel fabrication, steel decking installation, commercial steel construction, and multi-building connections.

MUA & RTU Structural Reinforcement – Commercial Complex, Calgary
SMF completed the fabrication and installation of structural steel reinforcements for Make-Up Air (MUA) units and Rooftop Units (RTUs) at a commercial complex in Calgary for SK Architects.
All steel supports were custom fabricated at our facility, delivered to site, and installed by SMF’s experienced crew in full compliance with Alberta building codes. The project strengthened rooftop mechanical platforms, improved load capacity, and ensured long-term structural stability.
